Active's
Membership Requirements:
Active members (ALA) of The JLC are required to complete the
following requirements to maintain Good Standing. Please note the
available substitutions for missed General Membership Meetings
and/or Educational Offerings.
Dues
Payment - $170.00
All
Active members of The JLC must pay Membership Dues of $170.00
each year. Dues must be received by May 31 st. Dues received after
May 31 st will be assessed a $25.00 late fee. Dues outstanding
beyond the third notice of late payment will result in the member
being dropped from the JLC in bad standing.
Placement
Requirement
All
Active members of The JLC must fulfill a Placement Requirement
each year. If you are not able to participate in your originally
selected Placement and you notify the Membership Trustee before
December 31 st, all efforts will be made to reassign you. After
December 31 st the Membership Trustee will make request decisions
on a case-by-case basis. Placement on a Community Project is required
at least every three years.
General
Membership Meeting (GMM)
All
Active members of The JLC must attend at least 4 GMMs per year.
Please note: If a member is only able to attend 3 GMMs in a
year, then the following activities are acceptable substitutions
equal to 1 GMM:
- 1 Extra Educational Offering
- 1 Extra 3-Hour Community Service Shift
- $30 Per Meeting
Educational
Offering
All
Active members of The JLC must attend at least 1 Educational
Offering per year. If a member is unable to attend one Educational
Offering in a year, then the following activities are acceptable
substitutions:
- 1 Extra GMM
- 1 Extra 3 Hour Community Service Shift
- $30 Per Educational Offering
Community
Service Shift
All
Active members of The JLC must complete one 3 Hour Community Service
Shift per year. If a member is unable to complete one 3 Hour Community
Service Shift in a year, then the following activities are acceptable
substitutions equal to one 3 Hour Community Service Shift:
- 3 Hours of work at League House coordinated through Operations
Trustee
- 3 Hour Fund Raising shift
- $45 Per Shift

Fundraising Requirement
All
Active members of The JLC MUST contribute $75.00 per year to
The JLC, in addition to membership dues. This obligation may
be met by:
- contributing $75.00 to the Annual Fund
- buying tickets for a fundraising event for The JLC
Membership Profile
All Active members of The JLC must update your Membership Profile
annually through the Membership Data Form.

Senior
Active Members' Requirements:
Senior Active members (SAS) are Active members
who have been a member of any Junior League for a period of at
least seven (7) years, excluding Provisional year and any leaves,
and who have requested a change of status from the Corresponding
Secretary. Senior Active members (SAS) shall have all the rights
and privileges of an Active member, but with abbreviated membership
requirements.
Senior Active members (SAS) must choose 2 items from the Senior
Active menu, or participate actively in a Placement, must fulfill
their fundraising requirement and must keep their membership profile
up to date.
Dues

Senior Active members of The JLC must participate actively
in a placement, or complete two (2) of the following items:
- General Membership Meeting
- Educational Offering
- Community Service Shift

Senior Active members of The JLC MUST contribute $75.00 per
year to The JLC, in addition to membership dues. This obligation
may be met by:
- contributing $75.00 to the Annual Fund
- buying tickets for a fundraising event for The JLC
Membership
Profile
All
Senior Active member of The JLC must update their Membership
Profile annually through the Membership Data Form, no exceptions.

Leave
of Absence:
The JLC offers Leaves of Absence (ALA) to any
Active or Senior Active member in good standing who feels she cannot
meet the minimum standards of Active or Senior Active membership.
To take advantage of Leave of Absence (ALA) a member must:
- Be an active member in good standing
- Request a Leave of Absence (ALA) in writing from the Corresponding
Secretary
- Pay membership dues in full by May 31 st or a late fee of
$25.00 will be assessed.
- Fulfill their fundraising requirement if requesting an ALA
after August 31 st
- A request for Leave of Absence must be received by December
31 st. The Membership Trustee, on a case-by-case basis, must
approve any requests after that date.
- Maintain membership profile up to date
An ALA may be taken for a maximum of two consecutive years and
may be taken every five years.
Grief
and Hardship Leave
The JLC offers Grief and Hardship Leave (GHL)
to any Active member who is grieving the loss of a loved one, or
who is experiencing unprecedented hardship. This leave is granted
for a six-month period.
To take advantage of Grief and Hardship Leave (GHL) a member
must:
- Be an active member in good standing
- Consult directly with the Membership Trustee (all discussions
leading up to this leave will be strictly confidential).
- Attend 2 General Membership Meetings
- Chose to either complete an Educational Offering, or participate
in a required 3 hour Community Service Shift.
- Meet $75.00 fundraising requirement (fundraising requirement
may be waived by Membership Trustee if hardship is of a financial
nature)
- Maintain membership profile up to date.
Members requesting Grief and Hardship Leave (GHL) must consult
with their committee chair to abbreviate Placement requirement.
Members requesting Grief and Hardship Leave (GHL) must inform their
Placement advisor of their leave.

Maternity
Leave
The JLC offers Maternity Leave (MLA) to any
Active member who is expecting or adopting a child. This leave
is granted for a six-month period either prior to birth or adoption
or immediately following birth or adoption or a combination of
the two.
To take advantage of Maternity Leave (MLA) you must
- Be an active member in good standing
- Complete the Maternity Leave request form.
- Attend 2 General Membership Meetings
- Chose to either complete an Educational Offering, or participate
in a required 3 hour Community Service Shift.
- Meet $75.00 fundraising requirement
- Maintain membership profile up to date.
Members requesting Maternity Leave (MLA) must consult with their
committee chair to abbreviate Placement requirement. Members requesting
Maternity Leave (MLA) must inform their Placement advisor of their
leave.
Probationary
Status (PRS).
The JLC will place any Active member who has failed to meet her
membership requirements in the previous year on Probationary
Status (PRS). Members will be placed on Probation for
1 year by a vote of the Board of Trustees. This vote will take
place at the first Board Meeting after the Annual Meeting. Members
will receive a personal telephone call as well as a letter in June
of the current year to notify them of the Probationary Status.
Members on Probation will be considered not in good standing and
will not have the right to vote or hold office. During the Probation
year, the member will be required to complete all Active or Senior
Active membership requirements for the current year, with no additional
requirements. These members will have until the Annual Meeting
in the current year to complete all membership requirements. If
after the 1 year Probationary Status the member has not completed
the membership requirements for that current year, she will be
removed from the membership of The JLC in bad standing by a vote
of the Board of Trustees.
