Here's
How To:
Change your
name, address or phone number: Report the change in writing to the
League office by completing and e-mailing the Membership
Status Change Form.
To change your membership status: Actives in good standing may change
their status to: Senior Active, transfer, nonresident, inter-league,
resignation, reinstatement. All requests must be made in writing
to the League Office by completing and e-mailing the Membership
Status Change Form. Changes in status affecting dues
payment must be made on or before May 31. Resignations submitted
between May 31 and August 31 will enable a member to resign in good
standing only upon payment of AJLI dues for the coming year.
To secure a leave of absence: A request must be made in writing
to the Active Council Coordinator.
To propose an applicant for membership: The JLC no longer requires
sponsorship of new members. Membership applications are available
through the Provisional Committee and the League office. Applications
are available from the middle of April to the deadline of August
31.
To
RSVP to a League event: Call the RSVP Line at 231-6300 x335. Speaking
clearly, simply state your name and the event you will be attending.
The date and time of your call will automatically be recorded.
To submit an article to The Update newsletter: All articles are
due by the 1st of the month (to be published in the following month's
newsletter). Notify the editor of your plans for the article. Have
the article approved by your Council Coordinator. (For complete
information see the Communications
Section).
To have a League mailing: Call the Administrative Director to check
availability of required services. Mailing labels and envelopes
can be provided by the office. Postage for large 1st Class mailings
is to be acquired by putting through a Check Request Form to the
Finance Manager for the necessary amount of postage needed. Ultimately,
each committee is responsible for their own mailings (folding, stapling,
affixing labels and stamps or bundling for a bulk mailing). Contact
the Administrative Director or the Administrative Vice President
no less than (4) weeks before the mailing date. Large mailings are
outsourced and will be arranged by the Administrative Director.
To register a comment or complaint: Call the Active Council Coordinator
or leave your comment, suggestion or complaint on the Comment Line
by calling 231-6300 x337.
To initiate a project: Ideas for new community projects can be submitted
by printing out & completing a Project
Proposal Form. During the year, any Junior League member or
community organization interested in proposing a project may initiate
the process through the Project Development Coordinator, who will
give these project ideas to the Community Research and Development
Committee (CRDC) for research and possible further project development.
The CRDC will then work closely with the Project Assessment Committee
(PAC) in the process of requesting funds and/or volunteers for the
proposed project. PAC will work with the CRDC and evaluate each
project utilizing criteria designed to ensure that JLC volunteer
and financial resources are allocated so as to maximize our community
impact. Key evaluative criteria include opportunities for membership
involvement in leadership roles and a variety of participation strategies,
including: direct service, public awareness, advocacy, and collaboration.
To apply for a leadership position within the JLC: Submit the “Leadership
Candidate Questionnaire” portion of the Invitation to Leadership
package to the Nominating Committee Chair by the December deadline,
indicating the position in which you are interested. The Invitation
to Leadership package will be available to all members during the
early Fall.
To be considered for Chair of a Committee: Contact the Coordinator
who is responsible for the committee and tell her you are interested,
or talk to the Vice President/Trustee responsible for that committee.
Complete the "Leadership Candidate Questionnaire” form
when it is published.
To
be considered for a Board Position: Self-submit your name on the
straw ballot and submit the “Leadership Candidate Questionnaire” by the December deadline.
