Race for the Cure
| |
The
JLC initiated and continued to coordinate the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation's Northeast Ohio Race for the Cure® for 7th year. A coalition of local organizations work together
to organize this 5K run. The 2000 race was held on September
24, 2000, and had an estimated 20,200 participants and raised
$800,000 for community grants. Each year, up to seventy-five
percent of the proceeds stay in Northeast Ohio to provide breast
education, screening and treatment services to medically underserved
women; a minimum of twenty-five percent helps fund the Komen
Foundation's national research grants program and covers administrative
costs. |
