Provisional Course Outline for 2006-2007

The purpose of the Provisional course is to provide an introduction to The Junior League of Cleveland, Inc. (JLC), the Cleveland community and the Association of Junior Leagues International. Group training programs, speakers, and project experiences are utilized to enhance volunteer and leadership skills. In addition, opportunities are provided for socialization among Provisionals and with the general membership.

To become an Active member, Provisionals must complete the following requirements:

Core Activities :

• Send in the membership application and $270 (The JLC dues of $170.00 plus a Provisional course fee of $100.00) before August 31, 2006
• Attend monthly Provisional small group meetings
• Attend three general membership meetings ( slated for the second Monday of each month)
• Attend the annual membership meeting in May 2007

Training Activities :

• Attend Fabulous Friday in September 2006 (An evening training session that will provide an overview of The JLC.)
• Attend Super Saturday in October 2006 (A morning training session that will provide an overview of The JLC community projects and the Provisional mini-projects.)
• Attend an all group meeting focused on transition to the first active year (held in March 2007)
• Attend one community awareness event
• Provisionals are welcome to attend the training and general interest education events offered to The JLC general membership. Provisional training will be hands-on throughout the course and supplemented at the Provisional small group meetings.

Project Activities :

• Plan, develop, and attend one of the Provisional Mini-Projects
• Volunteer for a four-hour shift on one of The JLC’s Community Projects

The 2006-2007 Provisional course has been designed to offer a great amount of flexibility. Provisionals have the freedom to select from a variety of dates and times to complete their requirements.
