THE
RUTH T. LUCAS AWARD
The Ruth T. Lucas Award was established in May 1970,
and is given annually, when appropriate, to an Active member of The
Junior League of Cleveland, Inc. who best exemplifies the ideal Junior
League volunteer -- a woman who is educated and trained for community
service and who fulfills this education and training through dedicated,
compassionate, and creative volunteering which contributes to the
betterment of her community. The
award is named in honor of Ruth T. Lucas, a distinguished Past President
of The Junior League of Cleveland, Inc. and former regional director
of AJLI. In 1933, she helped establish the Cleveland Volunteer Association
which became the Central Volunteer Bureau, at which she worked until
her retirement in 1970.
