For Immediate Release | March 31, 2016
Cleveland, Ohio – The Junior League of Cleveland (JLC) will host Girl League on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Girl League originated as an initiative led by the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio and the JLC. Initially, this program was intended to be a single day seminar focused on confidence-building for local teenage members of the Girl Scouts. Over the last few years we have evolved the project and seek to target girls from high-risk communities. Girls in this population rely heavily on resources from the county and it is our goal to continue to transform this program from a workshop to a full-fledged educational resource for these teenage girls over the next few years.
Girl League focuses on different activities to help educate and motivate teenage girls to discover their best selves. Educating the future will help for a better tomorrow. Girls from the area will learn about different topics that will help develop them into the best girl she can be tomorrow and woman she can be in the future. Girls will learn how to stand up, stand out, and be themselves.
Participation is open to any girl from 11 to 18 years of age in the Greater Cleveland area, especially those who may not have had the opportunity to benefit from a Girl Scout experience. The event will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri -C) Metropolitan Campus, 2900 Community College Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115.
Girl League is presented by the Junior League of Cleveland with patronage from Girls Scouts of North East Ohio,The Lubrizol Corporation, Chartreuse, Inc. and the Mark Vaughn Family.
